The Course

For a few holes in the middle of the round, the Pacific is effectively in play, and the golf becomes secondary to the view.

Pebble Beach Golf Links walks the cliffs above Carmel Bay in a routing that keeps finding new ways to put the ocean in front of you. The short seventh, a downhill par three of barely more than a hundred yards played straight at the water, may be the most photographed hole on earth, and photographs still undersell it. The closing eighteenth curls along the sea wall for its full length, a par five that asks for one more good decision before the round is through.

It is also a working U.S. Open venue, which means the course any golfer can theoretically play is the same one the best players in the world compete on. That accessibility, rare among championship courses, is exactly what makes a round here feel like a pilgrimage rather than a spectator sport. The pace is unhurried by design: forecaddies know the greens, and the walk between holes gives the coastline time to register.

The wider Monterey Peninsula supports the round generously. Spyglass Hill and Spanish Bay sit minutes away for golfers who want more than one day of coastal golf, and the 17-Mile Drive links the peninsula together for anyone traveling with company that plays less golf than you do. Carmel-by-the-Sea, a short drive south, holds dinners worth planning the evening around.

Tee times run through the resort’s own booking calendars, with earlier access for guests staying on property. Demand is highest from late spring through early autumn, when marine fog burns off by midmorning and the coastline is at its clearest.

How JULY Golf Arranges It

What we take off your hands.

We secure tee times aligned with resort stays, coordinate forecaddies, and build the surrounding days around Carmel and the coastline so the trip reads as a single composed week rather than a single round bolted onto a hotel booking. Private transport along the 17-Mile Drive and dinner reservations in Carmel are arranged alongside the golf.
